A. There are no surcharges for additional drivers who meet Lion Car Rental’s minimum age and license requirements.
A. Excess Reduction is not an insurance but optional coverage which for a small fee reduces your financial liability to a small, manageable amount in the event of an accident.

From the time you (or your nominated driver in the rental agreement) take charge of a rental vehicle, you are financially responsible for any loss or damage to the vehicle or any loss or damage to third party property as a result of using the vehicle.

The renter’s responsibility also includes damage caused by acts of nature such as hailstorms or falling trees.

The liability (called an excess) varies depending on the category of vehicle, the age of the driver, location and rate.

Provided you comply with the terms of the Lion Car Rentals rental agreement, Excess Reduction ensures that for any particular loss or damage to the vehicle or third party property you will not have a liability greater than the reduced excess even if the damage was caused by your mistake.

There are exempted events which Excess Reduction will not cover and you must take total financial responsibility.
A. If you choose not to purchase Excess Reduction then you will be liable for the full cost of the excess that is applicable on your rental.
A. Excess Reduction coverage and rates will vary depending on the type of vehicle rented, the age of the driver, location and rate.
A. No, we do not charge a Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee (VRRF).

A. The vehicle will be provided with a full tank and you must bring the vehicle back full to avoid any re-fuelling and additional charges. If the vehicle is returned without a full tank, there will be an additional charge of $10, in addition, to refueling charge.

A. Many rates, like weekend specials, are only available during certain time periods. Returning the car after or even before the designated time might affect the rate quoted. Returning the car by the agreed-upon time also helps ensure that all other customers will have their reserved car available upon their arrival.
A. Car rental companies may charge renters an extra drop-off fee for cars picked up at one location and returned to another, and sometimes impose a fee for additional mileage. Customers interested in a one-way rental should specifically ask if there are any drop-off fees or charges for additional mileage and what locations are authorized for such rental car returns.
A. Rental companies need to know that their renters are credit-worthy, to minimize vehicle damage and losses. Credit cards and valid drivers’ licenses usually provide the only information we have about our renters.
A. Although you present a major credit card at the time of rental, when you return the vehicle, you will be asked if you’d like to keep the rental charges on that credit card or pay cash. Since car rental companies ask for credit approval on the estimated car rental charges when you pick up the car, that amount will be held against your credit balance on that card for up to 14 days, regardless of how you pay upon return.

A. Most major credit cards are accepted. No surcharge for Visa/Master cards. Do not accept AMEX.

A. You may be able to use a MasterCard or Visa debit card. If you are planning to use a debit card please contact us directly to confirm if it will be accepted.
A. Car rental pricing is like airline pricing — if you travel at off-peak times or make a reservation seven or more days in advance, you often get a better deal. Also, watch the ‘Special Offers’ section on our web site.
